Note to self

Note to self: must do better at parenting. In one week, I have missed parents evening, reversed into a nursery workers car and been told by the big rotter’s teacher that I should really try and remember the twice weekly gym kit, as they have been regularly having to lend her sports clothes from the welfare room! At least the school dinner money is up to date so far this term.
I feel a bit better having read an article on how untidy beds might be keeping my kids healthy. The research from a Kingston University study suggests that while an unmade bed may look scruffy, it’s unappealing to house dust mites thought to cause asthma and other allergies. The average bed could be home to up to 1.5 million house dust mites, which are less than a millimetre long, feed on scales of human skin and produce allergens, which are easily inhaled during sleep. The bugs cannot survive in the warm, dry conditions found in an unmade bed.
Note to self: continue not to make rotter’s beds

That makes me feel better I also read once that girls with untidy bedrooms are less likely to develop eating disorders ! Not sure why and whether that means the girls can be untidy or just their mothers not domestic godesses. Have hardly touched the hoover since !

I am still working on the domestic goddess thing… In the meantime, the trick is to find a happy medium between chaos and control. Luckily my two girls still find hoovering a novelty, although many things disappear into the hoover and are never seen again!
