We hate social media

Posted on 28. Jun, 2010 by NW1er in News

Aurora understands why pharma might hate social media. Our ‘We Hate Social Media’ YouTube campaign launches today and sets out to show how hatred can be overcome and why the mantra of ‘we hate social media’ should be consigned to the bin of old ideas.

Aurora wants to help pharma folk find the love for social media.  In 140 characters we believe:

compliant engagement can b practically achieved & pharma has a responsibility to talk 2 its audiences

Neil introduces the campaign in the first of six videos that we are releasing this week on YouTube at www.wehatesocialmedia.com.  Claire then explores why people might not think that pharma engagement is appropriate…

If you are a fellow Tweeter see what we are others are saying about Aurora here (you can follow us on @aurorahealthpr) and tweets on this topic will have the hashtag #whsm.

Tomorrow Sian (aka PR Mum on this blog) will explore why people in pharma might say we hate social media because of the regulations.

We hope that people are finding these videos useful – we have some generous feedback from a number of people that they have been useful. We recognise that a lot of people in pharma have access to YouTube restricted and that people that are working in open plan offices cannot play this at there desk… so each of the team will be posting up the key points of their videos for people to read here on this blog.

    Hi Claire & Neil

Pharma does need to change its views on how it engagement

There are a number of strategic issues faced by Pharma & so much good that can be done
    Corp reputation
    Trust & Transparency
    Value to Patients
    Social Care

Indeed Social Marketing/Media will play an important role in how the NHS embraces and delivers its new operating framework out to 2013; as a result of the White Paper.
Here in its self is a partnership/service provision space that Pharma will be able to operate in.

It also might be useful to find out what patients want to see from their LOCAL healthcare providers in terms of social media – no idea what value they would place on it and for sure the NHS doesn’t know

    best wishes
    Michael

    Hi Michael

Thanks for your contribution – we are working in exciting times and it will be exciting to see how things shape up in response to the White Paper. I will have a look into what research is being undertaken into patients and what they expect from their local service provider. I will ask around in the #hcsmeu Twitter community in which we are active. I am sure a member of this group is in the know.

    Take care, Neil
